I pick the inspiration based on characters that inspire us. Mary Poppins was so powerful because she came in with unwavering confidence. She admired her own beauty. Her own name was her favorite and she believed that she was perfect. That is what gave her the ability to fly.
And when people saw that she flew, others around her began to fly too. I have gotten so much more out of this story as an adult than I did as a child, but even as a child, I loved it.
In fact, I remember I was in Brownies, and there was a typo in my name, Making it Meredity instead of Meredith. Which the girls thought was funny and began calling me. But I remember I had just watched Mary Poppins, and so I said Meredity is Perfedity. If there is one message that I could share with all women of all ages, and all girls, it would be that.
You are practically perfect in every way, and that is your magic.
